Material Section: PLA

PLA (Polylactic acid) is a biodegradable thermoplastic, Due to the rigid structure of PLA it can cause prints to be slightly brittle, PLA has a melting point which ranges between 180 degrees and 220 degrees however 200 degrees is normally a stable temperature to print with. Due to PLA being a biodegradable thermoplastic it means that is one of the more environmentally friendly filaments that we offer. PLA also does not give off any smell or bad emissions when melted. Below are some key points when printing with PLA.

  • Durable
  • Strong
  • User friendly
  • Limited Flexibility (Can become brittle under stress)
  • Soluble in Acetone
  • Heated bed not required but recommended
